Can a Renter Rekey Their Own Locks?
In most cases, you need your landlord or property manager’s permission before rekeying or replacing locks on a rental, since the property is not yours to modify. Many landlords will approve a rekey request, especially if you offer to cover the cost or provide a copy of the new key. If You Are Locked Out of a Rental
